JROTC Drill Team. A military drill team is a marching unit that performs routines based on military drill. These teams often perfect their proficiency and then choose to compete against other programs.

The drill team is a group of high school students chosen through organized, competitive tryouts. The goal of instructional and performance activities is to enhance each individual member’s skills and development, resulting in a highly skilled performance group.

There are armed and unarmed drill teams across the nation. Teams range from 9 to 26 members the usual being 9-12. Drill teams create, practice and perform a routine (approx. 8 to 10 minutes) at competitions (Drill Meets) at the local, state, regional and national level.
